Lake Afton Library
- Built in 1879, The Yardley Library, as it is affectionately known
by the locals, has always been the focal point of this small colonial town.
In the spring and summer, the Library that sets beside the calm waters of Lake
Afton, attracts many fisherman both young and old . On chilly winter days many
congregate in the heart of the town to skate in the shadows of the old library.
(See William Doubles "Skater") All year round
visitors enjoy the ducks that have taken up residence next to the old library.
Plans to demolish the old library to allow construction of a new bridge that
was to replace the one washed away in the flood of 55 met with strong
community opposition. The Scudders Falls Bridge was built instead, and an important
part of the history of the town was preserved. The building remained in use
as a library until 1977. Its book collection was subsequently moved to
the Lower Makefield Municipal Complex. The library that served the community
for almost 100 years is now the home of the Yardley Historical Association.

Schofield Ford Covered
Bridge - The
Schofield Ford Covered Bridge originally built in 1873 by contractor George
L. Mahon, was long a dearly loved landmark in rural Bucks County, PA. In 1991
vandals set fire to the 117 year old bridge which spans the Neshaminy Creek
in Tyler State Park.
Local politicians, religious,
community and business leaders joined school children, 4 H and others to raise
the nearly $350,000.00 for the project to restore the 170 ft. long bridge. Every
effort was made to make the new bridge as authentic as the original. The 6 year
effort to rebuild the County's 12th covered bridge officially ended with a dedication
ceremony in September 1997.

Estate-Authorized Fred Bees Gicleés
What Is A Gicleé?
A gicleé (zhee-CLAY) is an individually
produced, high-resolution, high-fidelity reproduction. Gicleés can be
produced on any number of media, from canvas to watercolor paper to transparent
acetates. Some artists have begun to work directly with this new printing process.
Gicleés are superior to traditional lithography
in several ways. The colors are brighter, last longer, and are so high-resolution
that they are virtually continuous tone, rather than tiny dots. The range, or
"gamut" of color for gicleés is far beyond that of lithography. Lithography
uses tiny dots of four colors—cyan, magenta, yellow and black—to fool the
eye into seeing various hues and shades. Colors are "created" by printing different
size dots of these four colors. Gicleés use technology that sprays ink
onto the page, actually mixing the inks on the page to create true colors.
